In two biannual reports, Amazon’s Ring said it saw a 65% increase in legal demands for doorbell footage in 2021 and provided a record amount of footage and other data to U.S. authorities throughout the year, TechCrunch reports. More than 85% of demands came through court-issued search warrants, under which Ring provided user data and account video footage. Ring also said it received 2,774 requests from law enforcement to preserve a user’s account for up to six months.
