Nunavut and the Northwest Territories Information and Privacy Commissioner Elaine Keenan Bengts will retire in October, CBC News reports. Reflecting on two decades in the role, Keenan Bengts said it is not only important for individuals to protect their own privacy, but also “to hold governments accountable for what they do.” They can do that by making use of the Access to Information and Protection of Privacy Act, she said, and by asking the government to provide information behind its decisions.
