Researchers at the University of Texas at Dallas developed a tool they say can determine whether a mobile game or app complies with the U.S. Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act, Help Net Security reports. The tool, “COPPA Tracking by Checking Hardware-Level Activity,” was found to be 99% accurate in a study. Meanwhile, a class-action lawsuit has been filed in the Northern District of Illinois alleging TikTok violates Illinois' Biometric Information Privacy Act by collecting children’s data without consent.
