A researcher revealed a data breach at South Africa’s state-owned electricity company, Eskom, which supplies nearly 95 percent of the region’s electricity and 45 percent throughout the continent, ZDNet reports. After attempting to alert the company to no avail, cybersecurity researcher Devin Stokes publicly tweeted screenshots of the breach, which included account IDs, service dates, meter information and some payment details. Separately, another user warned the company of a Trojan discovered on a networked corporate machine. "Accidental breaches of this type further drive home the point that every company should have a formal process to accept vulnerability reports from external third parties," HackerOne Lead Technical Program Manager Jon Bottarini said.
