BakerHostetler released the seventh edition of its "Data Security Incident Response Report," detailing data from responses to more than 1,250 incidents the firm assisted clients with in 2020. While phishing had been the leading cause of incidents for the past five years, it was replaced in 2020 by network intrusion, according to the report, which also stated ransomware attacks surged in frequency and severity.
While many companies have adapted to remote work during the COVID-19 pandemic, Lenovo’s "Future of Work and Transformation Study" found those who are reluctant cite corporate data security as their primary concern, Back End News reports.
- The "2021 PageFair Adblock Report" from Blockthrough said the use of advertising-blocking software on smartphones has doubled over the last five years, CNET reports. According to a survey of 5,423 U.S. adults from the ad technology firm, about 40% use an ad blocker.
