Global research firm Gartner estimates that 40% of privacy technology will rely on artificial intelligence by 2023, as privacy professionals look for new ways to keep personal information safe, TechRepublic reports. Gartner Research Vice President Bart Willemsen, CIPP/E, CIPM, FIP, said “speed and repeatability of data-governing actions and the ability to manage large volumes in similar ways are a few drivers behind AI-powered privacy aid tooling.” AI technology can also recognize patterns and identifiable data, Willemsen said, enabling it to discover data faster than conventional systems.
