In a piece for Communications of the ACM, Carnegie Mellon University CyLab Security and Privacy Institute Director Lorrie Faith Cranor, CIPT, said her research group has developed and refined a stylized toggle icon representing privacy concepts under the California Consumer Privacy Act. Researchers gathered evidence in response to the Office of the Attorney General’s modified regulations, the fourth set of which recommends the use of researchers’ icon for CCPA compliance, she said, showing “how academic researchers can refocus their research to answer policymakers’ questions.”
