A survey conducted by ACA Research found more than half of small- and medium-sized businesses are not prepared for Australia’s new data breach notification law, The Sydney Morning Herald reports. Of the companies examined, 57 percent said they have not analyzed their IT security risk. Of the 528 respondents to the survey, 18 percent has a compliance policy in place for the new law, while 33 percent is in the process of developing their own. “Knowing how to manage the personal information you hold, to make sure you comply with privacy laws, can be difficult for even well-established businesses with in-house privacy or legal teams. But for start-ups and small businesses, it can seem an impossible task,” Salinger Privacy Director Anna Johnston said.
