The McKinsey Global Institute has released a report on the economic benefits of strong digital identification. The institute developed a framework to help understand the economic impact of digital IDs. The framework was formed by an analysis of the ways digital IDs are used in countries such as the U.S., U.K., India, Brazil, Nigeria and China. “We hope our initial research effort contributes to a greater understanding of how digital ID, designed with the right principles, implemented with strong controls, and enforced with well-considered policies, can create significant economic benefits for individuals and institutions and can protect individuals from the risk of abuse,” the report states.
