A workshop report is now available for “Can GDPR Work for Health Scientific Research?” Co-hosted by the Future of Privacy Forum, European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations, and Centre for Information Policy Leadership in Brussels Oct. 22, the workshop discussed the challenges of processing personal health data in the research sector under the EU General Data Protection Regulation. In the report, participants noted a “lack of legal and regulatory harmonization is preventing the EU from taking the opportunities available from digital health” and a need for an opinion from the European Data Protection Board to help clarify the situation.
