Vice reports Czech Republic–based antivirus service Avast has been selling sensitive data from hundreds of millions of users' browsing histories. According to leaked documents, Avast, which claims to have 435 million users globally per month, repackages the data it collects through its subsidiary, Jumpshot, that then sells the data to the likes of Google, Microsoft, Pepsi, Home Depot and others. Avast transfers the data to Jumpshot after users opt in to use the antivirus program. The information collected from browsing histories includes Google searches, lookups of locations and GPS coordinates on Google Maps, people visiting companies' LinkedIn pages and particular YouTube videos.
