Last month, the privacy community lost Stefano Rodotà, one of the authors of the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights and chair of the Article 29 Working Party from 2000 through 2004, at the age of 84. He was rightly considered one of the founding fathers of European data protection and was a particularly distinguished lawyer and politician in Italy, where he was the first president of the Garante, Italy's data protection authority.
