It’s back, and this year, it’s going to be even better. It’s the IAPP Asia Privacy Forum, and building on the success of our inaugural Asia-based event last year, the event is being held in conjunction with Privacy Awareness Week, with a full slate of content on both local and global privacy issues.

This year’s conference will include a day and a half of programming and networking in Singapore on May 5 and 6, complete with a welcome reception that Tuesday evening at the event venue, the Singapore Marriott Hotel.

And when you register for this year’s Asia Privacy Forum, you receive free online Certification Foundation and CIPT training free of cost.

What’s on the agenda for this year? In a few words, brand new, extended programming on everything from The Challenges of Data Classification to The Latest Developments in Cross-Border Data Transfers. And if you’re wondering what regulators from around the region are thinking, they’ll be on hand, too, for our "DPA Roundtable: The Enforcers Speak."

Here are a few more examples of the sessions you can expect this year:

  • The Lowest Common Denominator: Doing business in the APAC region at large? Then you know there are myriad regulations and it can be dizzying making sure that you’re complying with all of them. Discover the major areas of privacy regulation in the region and what actions are most likely to result in universal compliance.
  • Benchmarking Your Privacy Program: The IAPP has conducted extensive research on the makeup and budget priorities of privacy programs throughout the world. In this session, we walk you through some of the findings so that you can benchmark your program against those of organizations around the globe and of varying sizes and maturity levels.
  • Identifying and Managing Cyber Risk: In this practical work session, we’ll walk you through a method for identifying and managing cyber risk.
  • Big Data Ethics: You Can, But Should You? Big data analytics opens up a world of possibilities for organisations of all types to gain deep insights into their consumers. However, these new possibilities also raise serious questions about what is ethical when the law can’t begin to keep up with technology. Learn how your organization can build a framework for evaluating new tools, products and services based on big data.
  • Conducting a PIA: Straits Interactive will take you through a successful and efficient privacy impact assessment, creating a relevant case study for delegates.

This year’s expanded program also includes new practical work sessions focused on active learning and the chance to share with ideas and knowledge with fellow privacy professionals.

If you’re thinking about taking part in this event, now is the time to register. Early bird registration continues until April 17. Want to stay up-to-date on all the developments with this year’s event? Sign up here for email updates.
