A recent survey by Forrester Consulting on behalf of Evidon reveals how expensive GDPR compliance can be for companies, with 48 percent of data and compliance executives responding that their companies have set aside at least $1 million to meet the GDPR's initial requirements, AdAge reports. Of the 263 surveyed, 33 percent had set aside between $1 and $5 million, with 15 percent responding that they have allocated more than $5 million to ensure compliance. Jessica Lee, CIPP/E, CIPP/US, said, “The first trend we’re seeing is panic.” Lee added that the cost of compliance is expected to rise, “once new hires, legal fees and ongoing compliance get factored in.” Editor's Note: The IAPP-EY Privacy Governance Report has granular data on GDPR compliance spending and operations.
