MIT Technology Review reports on the future of artificial intelligence enforcement following the release of the European Commission's proposal for AI regulation and the U.S. Federal Trade Commission's post on the subject. The FTC said selling racially biased algorithms could count as an unfair and deceptive practice under the FTC Act. University of Washington School of Law Assistant Professor Ryan Calo said the FTC's declaration is "a very stark example of what looks to be a sea change." Despite these moves, the commission and FTC will likely still face challenges reining in governments' use of harmful AI tech.
