California continues to make news in the privacy legislation landscape. Attorney General Xavier Becerra offered insight into how his office may approach California Consumer Privacy Act enforcement and other privacy issues he is focused on during a U.S. Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation hearing in September. The state Legislature also passed several bills with privacy implications, some of which were not signed into law by Gov. Gavin Newsom, D-Calif. IAPP Legal Research Fellow Cathy Cosgrove looks back and offers an analysis of these recent developments.
