Maine's privacy law, which took force Aug. 1, still doesn't have a clear enforcement scheme, The Portland Press Herald reports. The law does not have enforcement provisions, leaving the responsibility with Maine Attorney General Aaron Frey, who said he will rely on internet service providers working in good faith and consumer complaints. Pierce Atwood Associate Ariel Pardee, CIPP/E, CIPP/US, said company whistleblowers are a more likely source for reporting company malpractice, noting that consumers aren't likely to notice violations.
