Hogan Lovells Partner Mark Parsons discusses data privacy and cybersecurity trends, as well as what he sees as a rapid pace of development in the evolution of laws and regulations in Asia-Pacific countries. Parsons explains how the 2005 APEC Privacy Framework helped to develop a uniform standard of data protection law and ushered in what he describes as a flurry of new comprehensive European-style data protection laws. The trend for future development is, as Parsons describes, “to take inspiration from these advanced European requirements and replicate them in the region.”
