The Cyberspace Administration of China is accepting public comment on a draft regulation on the “registration, use and management” of internet users’ account name information. The administration said the proposal is in accordance with China’s Personal Information Protection Law and other regulations. The proposal includes requirements that platforms authenticate users’ applications for account registration based on “true identity information,” including cell phone numbers and resident ID numbers. The deadline for comments is Nov. 10.
