Privacy must be the foundation of the Internet of Things (IoT) as its technology develops, and in order to quell user trepidation, the matter of how to do that “deserves serious thought,” Information Age reports. “Privacy, security and trust cannot be an IoT afterthought—after all, these devices are collecting our stories,” the report states, noting data should be thought of as stories that generate insights for those seeking to market products to individuals. “Security has to be baked into the core platform from the beginning in order to explicitly manage what is happening to the information collected, who controls it, who has access to it and what is done with it,” the report states.
