A bipartisan group of U.S. lawmakers recently unveiled the Promoting Digital Privacy Technologies Act. Under the proposed bill, federal agencies will assess and fund research into several categories of privacy-enhancing technologies, specifically on tools that support "deidentification, pseudonymization, anonymization, or obfuscation of personal data."
