A proposed bill would amend Brazil's General Data Protection Law to have penalties for noncompliance come into effect immediately. While the LGPD is already in effect, penalties will be enforced starting in August. The bill's author argues delaying enforcement of the law has had a negative impact on Brazil from both a legal and societal viewpoint. The proposed bill currently awaits dispatch from the president of the Chamber of Deputies.
