The Washington Post reports on Facebook's decision to close its facial recognition system and the likelihood of its return. Though the company planned to nix the program and its data for almost a year, aiming to rebuild Meta with privacy in mind, Andrew Bosworth, vice president of augmented and virtual reality at Facebook and soon-to-be chief technologist, proposed against cutting the tech altogether in favor of implementing it into metaverse development.
