Reuters reports regulators across the world are proceeding with investigations into alleged genetic data collection from a prenatal test produced by Chinese-based genetics firm BGI Group. Data protection authorities in Australia, Canada, Estonia, Germany and Slovenia are examining the transparency around BGI's data collection and transfer of data to a third country. "Genetic information is not only valuable to marketers and data brokers, but also to foreign states and cybercriminals as well," the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Ontario said in a statement.
