Politico reports Dutch Member of European Parliament Sophie In’t Veld is calling for a moratorium on member states' use of spyware and further review of the technology by the European Commission. In't Veld and fellow MEPs conducted their own spyware probe she said shows "shocking" results that "should alarm every European citizen." With the proposed moratorium, In't Veld said a country-by-country lift of a potential ban would come when member states devise responsible frameworks for spyware use.
