Across the globe, the headlines tell the stories over and over again of hacking incidents resulting in the exposure of private information—from intimate photos to financial data to corporate employee contact information. The message has quickly become clear that there’s no privacy without security and vice versa. And now more than ever, there’s a whole new world of risk.

Enter the two events you know and love—the IAPP Privacy Academy and the CSA Congress—together again for two conferences in one event as Privacy. Security. Risk. (P.S.R.), moving this year to Las Vegas, NV, September 29 to October 1.

“The name reflects the ever-evolving and increasingly overlapping intersection of privacy and cloud security. As data continues to become today’s most valuable currency, professionals who understand the risks of mismanaging privacy and security are essential,” IAPP President and CEO Trevor Hughes, CIPP, said in announcing the event’s new name.

“We have seen aggressive cloud adoption in the past year, and it is clearly on a trajectory to become our primary information technology system,” added CSA CEO Jim Reavis. “The stakes are high for the security and privacy communities to share best practices and address concerns around data sovereignty, cyber threats, governance, provider transparency and the role of governments.”

“We’ve created a unique cross-educational opportunity through P.S.R. to discuss the practical and theoretical in today’s data driven economy,” Hughes noted.

And while September may seem far off in the midst of these winter months, now is the time to be thinking about securing your seat in Vegas for this can’t-miss privacy and security event of the year. Preregister between now and April 30 and you will save $200 off the early bird rates for a total of $400 off of the regular main conference rate.

If the privacy and security educational and networking opportunities aren’t reason enough to attend, there’s the location. P.S.R. will be at the Bellagio this year, and if you preregister and book your room at the Bellagio, you’ll get an exclusive VIP package.

Adam Tanner, a fellow at Harvard University’s Institute for Quantitative Social Science and author of What Stays in Vegas: The World of Personal Data—Lifeblood of Big Business—and the End of Privacy as We Know It, will keynote at P.S.R. 2015. Tanner is a past Reuters bureau chief and reporter and also contributes a column for Forbes.

“The CSA and IAPP are coming together once again to give today’s industry practitioners access to leading global thinkers and innovators who are being charged with addressing cloud security and these concerns,” Reavis said in the event announcement.

When you preregister, you’ll receive a confirmation email with the details on how and when to select your sessions as well as additional options like preconference workshops and certification training and testing.

If you’d like to bring your expertise to P.S.R., now’s the time to submit a proposal with the Call for Speakers open through March 13. We’re looking for privacy and security pros with knowledge to share who can lead engaging sessions and want to get more involved in the privacy and cloud security communities.

The IAPP is currently accepting proposals for both half-day preconference workshops and 60-minute interactive, practical and hands-on breakout sessions on topics including big data, cloud architecture, cloud security and privacy, emerging technologies, financial services, healthcare privacy, the intersection of privacy and security, the Internet of Things and mobile in the cloud, marketing, policy and standards and privacy program management and development.

All the details on submitting a speaker proposal are here.
