The Office of the Australian Information Commissioner received more than 3,000 privacy-related complaints between 2018 and 2019, an increase of 12%, ZDNet reports. The OAIC says the increase is due to privacy practices primarily in the finance industry and government entities, with the most common complaints relating to "use and disclosure, security, access, collection, and the quality of personal information." The total number of freedom-of-information requests to government agencies increased by 13%, 83% of which were related to personal information requests, and the number of applications for a review by the Information Commissioner of FOI decisions increased by 16%.
