A pair of notable Canadian privacy developments was among the topics discussed at an IAPP KnowledgeNet meeting hosted by PwC in Boston, Massachusetts. A panel of privacy professionals offered its thoughts on the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada’s decisions to place Equifax on a six-year "compliance agreement" for its 2017 data breach and to launch a consultation for its plans to revise its policy position on trans-border data flows under the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act. The panel looked at the key takeaways from the OPC’s recent activities and what they will mean for Canadian privacy professionals going forward.
