Prompted by an announcement that artificial intelligence lab DeepMind Health's brand will be absorbed into its parent company Google as part of Google Health, privacy advocates have raised concerns over what the news will mean for patient privacy, The Telegraph reports. The announcement comes months after DeepMind, which uses National Health Service data, announced that it would not share data with its parent company. While a DeepMind spokesman said, “All patient data remains under our partners’ strict control, and all decisions about its use lie with them,” some have questioned the company’s ability to remain independent from the tech giant. The news follows a recent announcement that Google hired David Feinberg to lead the company’s health care initiatives.
