New Zealand Privacy Commissioner John Edwards warned additional patient data may be circulated in the cyberattack on the Waikato District Health Board and urged people to “do the right thing” if they receive personal information, the New Zealand Herald reports. Patient and staff data was compromised in the breach, with some files containing patients’ personal details sent to media outlets. Anyone who receives sensitive personal information about themselves or others should notify the Ministry of Health and New Zealand police, Edwards said.
