A Morning Consult-Politico poll of 2,000 registered U.S. voters revealed a majority favor drafting federal privacy legislation. The survey, conducted Jan. 8 and 9, found 56% of voters across parties either fully or somewhat support, as Morning Consult and Politico framed it, "a proposal to make it illegal for social media companies to use personal data to recommend content via algorithms." Only 10% of all voters were strongly opposed to legislation.
