Before he started the forum, he worked in academic research and studied the privacy issues that plagued the U.S.'s attempt to create online identities in the name of e-government. When those efforts sank, he looked around and saw a need in the IoT space to find solutions to some of the privacy concerns related to the proliferation of IoT-connected devices.
