Former "Daily Show" producer Dan Taberski's podcast, "Missing Richard Simmons," has drawn criticism for what some call an intrusive dive into the '80's fitness guru's whereabouts, mental health and sexuality, Vox reports. Simmons himself generated intrigue after disappearing from the public eye in 2014, initially causing speculation about his well-being; it was this concern that Taberski said served as the impetus for his podcast, which he continued with, undeterred, even when Simmons confirmed on multiple occasions that he was fine and choosing to be a "loner," the report states. "Ultimately, 'Missing Richard Simmons' came to say more about public interaction with celebrity culture — and the question of whether Taberski, or any of us, has a right to know why a public figure seeks privacy and solitude — than about Simmons himself," the report adds.
