Post-Paris, the negotiations over the long-debated Passenger Name Record Directive have intensified with political pressure from many in the European Union. Now, Politico reports that negotiators in the trilogue process, which meets again on December 15, are close to a deal. The bridgemaker is British MEP Timothy Kirkhope, Parliament rapporteur, who reports in an interview that, “there’s been movement from the Commission and Council and I’m just waiting for reaction on the new proposals, which bring together all the various things we’ve been doing. On balance, we’re getting very, very close. My own feeling is this is now just about ready to roll.”
