Canada’s House of Commons’ Ethics Committee heard testimony that the Public Health Agency of Canada did not act transparently in its response to the COVID-19 pandemic, iPolitics reports. PHAC accessed Canadians’ cellular location data to help the government address challenges associated with the pandemic. Michael Geist, Canada’s research chair in internet and e-commerce law, said PHAC did not adequately disclose enough information about the viewing of location data or communicate about the response with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner.
