"Nearly all organizations worldwide are now recognizing that privacy investment is translating into upside business benefits," writes Robert Waitman, CIPP/US, a director in Cisco's privacy office. "Organizations that have invested to get ready for the EU General Data Protection Regulation are experiencing fewer and less costly data breaches. And they are seeing less sales friction due to customers’ privacy concerns." His comments are based on a recently released Cisco 2019 Data Privacy Benchmark Study. In this post for Privacy Perspectives, Waitman presents some of the main takeaways from the study, including whether respondents are experiencing sales delays because of consumer privacy concerns, gauging support for a federal privacy law in the U.S., while offering some recommendations for businesses to consider.
