Reed Smith announced has Gerry Stegmaier, CIPP/US, as its newest partner in the Washington branch of the organization’s Intellectual Property, Information and Innovation (iCubed) Group. Formerly of Goodwin Procter, Stegmaier specializes in privacy, consumer protection, corporate governance, information security, and intellectual property. It’s this wide spectrum of expertise that was attractive to the Reed Smith team, according to a press release.

“Gerry is a terrific addition to our office here in Washington,” said Reed Smith’s Gary Thompson. “His deep ties to the national technology community are a great asset to our IP practice in D.C. and our iCubed practice’s support of technology, legal services innovation, and entrepreneurship.”

Stegmaier expressed a reciprocal admiration for the firm. “Reed Smith’s international reach, and innovative approach to information asset management and protection, marries perfectly with the challenges facing enterprises,” he said.

In tandem with his transition to Reed Smith, Stegmaier will also work as both a senior research fellow and a practitioner-in-residence at George Mason University’s Law School, where he received his J.D.
