Singapore’s Personal Data Protection Commission has fined IT vendor Learnaholic SG$60,000 after the personal data of more than 47,000 students, parents and staff was hacked, CNA reports. Names, contact numbers, emails and addresses were stolen, as was the medical information of approximately 372 students. Police said the data was not distributed, the hacker’s device was confiscated and the data deleted. In deciding the fine, the PDPC said Learnaholic was handling “large volumes of personal data relating to minors,” and Deputy Commissioner Yeong Zee Kin said, “The unauthorised disclosure of such data could potentially have caused significant harm.”
