Following reports of TiVo, comScore and Dish giving viewer data to Cambridge Analytica, Federal Communications Commission Chairman Ajit Pai said the agency will not be conducting an investigation, Broadcasting & Cable reports. Pai said the Federal Trade Commission should be handling any inquiries going forward, especially given the FCC’s limited authority over TiVo and comScore, as neither are satellite companies or cable operators. Pai has forwarded the issue to the FTC but has received criticism for deterring on the investigation. “Unclear situations demand investigation. Punting to the @FTC is an abdication of the agency’s duty and raises more questions than it answers,” Rep. Debbie Dingell, D-Mich., tweeted.
