In an interview with Nextgov, U.S. Customs and Border Protection Deputy Executive Assistant Commissioner John Wagner discussed CBP's facial recognition deployments. Wagner, who will retire at month's end, said CBP's biometric Entry/Exit technology is a "feasible solution," but it will require further privacy considerations while "being clearer with the public" on its image collection. Meanwhile, the New York State Attorney General's Office confirmed it will represent the Department of Education in the biometric privacy suit recently brought by the New York Civil Liberties Union.
