A coalition of community, privacy and immigrant rights organizations called on the Biden administration to avoid using and funding surveillance technology at the U.S. border. A provision within the U.S. Citizenship Act of 2021 directs the Department of Homeland Security to install surveillance technology along the border. The organizations argue the technology is harmful to immigrant communities and suggests the administration invest its resources into enhancing border communities.
