Expedia subsidiary Orbitz may have suffered a data breach compromising the personal information tied to 880,000 payment cards, DataBreachToday reports. In addition to payment card details, hackers may have stolen information tied to purchases and customers' names, birth dates, phone numbers, email addresses and genders. The breach took place in a legacy system not currently tied to the travel fare aggregation company's current website, with the stolen information having been gathered between January 2016 and December 2017. Orbitz is working with a digital forensics firm to investigate the breach and has notified law enforcement agencies. Meanwhile, the Department of Health and Human Services' Office for Civil Rights is investigating the 2016 Banner Health data breach affecting 3.7 million patients.
