The opt-out period begins for the Australian government's national electronic health records database, My Health Record, ABC News reports. As part of the system, patients and doctors can upload medical information, allowing users to then decide what is kept and who can see the information. While the Australian Digital Health Agency assures cybersecurity protections are in place, former Australian Privacy Commissioner Malcolm Crompton, CIPP/US, said he was most concerned by the inadequate security of many medical practitioners who will have access to the system. "If you have a look at where the vulnerabilities of this network [are], they are all at the edge; [at] individual health practitioner’s computers," Crompton said.
