The U.S. Office of Personnel Management is testing blockchain as a potential solution for transferring employee records between IT systems within government agencies, GCN reports. A request for information has revealed an employee digital record prototype that's being developed by the OPM in partnership with the Department of Commerce’s National Technical Information Service. Marcel Jemio, chief data architect and acting chief of OPM’s Data Management Federal Solutions said, "You're going to have this concept of blockchain leveraging and bringing together information, helping it to be disseminated out — I think it's going to be a great source for shared services." To encourage collaboration, the General Services Administration’s Emerging Citizen Technology Program will host its first monthly interagency forum Dec. 13.
