The Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada announced updates to Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act guidance documents to add types of personal information considered "sensitive." The updates involve data related to personal health and finances, ethnic and racial origins, political opinions, genetic and biometric data, an individual’s sex life or sexual orientation, and religious or philosophical beliefs. According to OPC, the updates reflect data that brings "specific risks to individuals when said information is collected, used or disclosed."
