Following the revelation of Canada’s biggest telecommunications companies sharing location data, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada announced it will investigate the practice, the Global News reports. Bell, Rogers and Telus allegedly sold its subscribers’ location data to a company called LocationSmart. Spokespersons for Bell and Rogers said the location data is not shared by them, but rather by the joint venture owned by all three companies known as Enstream. A spokesperson for Enstream said the company only shares location data when it has received consent from the subject and occurs on a one-time basis.
