The Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada is “following up” with Cadillac Fairview, the company that owns one of the Calgary malls allegedly using facial-recognition technology to track visitors’ ages and genders, Global News reports. “We will be following up with the company to better understand the situation, including the company’s assertion that it is not collecting personal information,” OPC Senior Communications Advisor Tobi Cohen said. CBC News reports Cadillac Fairview is refusing to say whether facial-recognition technology is in use at the Rideau Centre in Ottawa.
