A spokesperson for the Office of the Privacy Commissioner said the OPC "was not consulted" on the Liberal Party's online harms bill, though it deals with online safety and privacy, the National Post reports. Privacy professionals have spoken against the online harms bill over concerns it would compromise user privacy. Among other things, the bill would require social media companies to remove illegal content, defined into five categories, and mandate reporting to law enforcement. The bill will likely be proposed in Parliament after its return to session.
