The Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada is launching an investigation into why Loblaws is asking for driver’s licenses in order to receive a $25 gift card, CBC News reports. Loblaws has been offering gift cards after admitting to a privacy-fixing scandal. In order to receive the gift card, some customers have been asked to send in a copy of their driver’s license, leading to complaints. Loblaws said it will cooperate with the privacy commissioner’s investigation, with Loblaws Spokesperson Kevin Groh saying the process of asking for a license is in place to make sure customers can be verified.
