In an op-ed for WIRED, Girl Scouts USA CEO Sylvia Acevedo writes about the need to educate girls to be future cybersecurity leaders. Acevedo says much of the technology developed today lacks women’s and children’s needs, including vital safety and privacy concerns, and that women make up just 24% of the global cybersecurity workforce. “Educating girls empowers them to make meaningful contributions to society,” she writes. “Contributions that help everyone win. Except cybercriminals.”
